I was delighted to find this grumpy looking, puffed up chap during a rain storm at night behind my cottage in the bush in South Africa. These frogs come out in the rain (hence their name) especially when the termites are hatching. They live in burrows and dig in backwards. They puff themselves up like this to scare off predators. After sculpting him as quickly as possible I let him go & he dug his way backwards into the soil again disappearing from view as the soil collapsed over on top of him, never to see him again!
